Forestry & Parks Division
Leominster was again awarded the Tree City designation for the year 2003, mainly though the efforts of our Forestry Staff.

In addition to the above, the Forestry crew mows the Common, Central Square, Carter Park and Doyle Field from May through October. In addition the crew worked with the Athletic Department marking the fields for baseball, football, soccer and field hockey. We cut 26 road miles of brush and an additional 31 brush complaints were done by hand.

In May & June, the crew began planting trees and shrubs along the Central Streetscape project. This project involved a Mass ReLeaf grant of $3,370 from the State. This crew will plant 23 trees and 62 plants and shrubs along Central Street from Cheryl Drive to Grant Street..

The Forestry Department will handle these types of complaints on city trees or trees that are hanging over city sidewalks and roadways.

For trees or branches in wires, please call Massachusetts Electric 1-800-322-3223

The city asks that no trees are to be planted in the grass strip between the sidewalk

and the roadway.
