Special Events

The Easter Bunny invites all children, ages 2-6 to celebrate springtime and join the annual search for eggs hidden behind the Eagles Hall on Litchfield St. Special eggs are hidden within the property and can be turned in to win special prizes. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance during the hunt. Don’t miss out!
DATE: Saturday, March 25, 2006
SITE: Eagles Hall, Litchfield St.
COST: Free- with a Chinese auction will take place to help defray some of the costs
TIME/AGES: Each hunt will last one hour
Hunt begins at 10:00 a.m. for 2-4 year olds
Hunt begins at 12:30 p.m. for 5-6 year olds

The Leominster Recreation Department will reenact a haunted trail at Barrett Park. Do you know what really happened at Barrett Park many years ago? Join us on either night to find out the answer to this question. You might walk away with more than you bargained for. Refreshments will be sold
DATES: Friday, Oct. 20th and Saturday Oct. 21st
TIME: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. COST: 5.00/person

Area youth boys’ and girls’ have an opportunity to participate and compete in track and field events, similar to those in the Olympics. Track events include the 50, 100, 200, 400 meter dash, the 800 and 1600 meter run, and the 4 x 100 relay. Field events include the softball throw and standing long jump. Results are sent to the Hershey Track and Field; where they determine top regional winners that will go on to compete at state finals. The program has been a great success every year. You must bring a copy of your birth certificate with you when you register. Youth in surrounding communities are encouraged to participate. LOCAL MEET DATE: Saturday, June 17, 2006

Massachusetts State Meet Information:
The Leominster Recreation Dept. will host the state meet on Saturday,, July 8, 2006 at Nashoba Regioinal High School in Bolton, MA.

Once again, join us for a Halloween festival with tricks, treats, a parade and more! Dress in your favorite costume as we parade from city hall to Carter Park, where there will be a variety of active-ties for the kids. It is a traditionally safe way to celebrate the day.
DATE: Sunday, October 29, 2006 COST: Free
TIME: Meet at City Hall parking lot at 1:30 p.m. The Parade will begin at 2:00 p.m.
SITE: City Hall Parking lot to Carter Park

The City of Leominster will be celebrating Johnny Appleseed with a festival to take place in downtown Leominster, with numerous activities, booths, crafts, moonwalks, foods, performers, and more! Stop by the Leominster Recreation booth and check us out. If you are a Non-Profit or Charitable Organization and would like to be a vendor at this event please contact Rick Marchand, The Downtown Association, 978 534-1212.
Saturday, September 16, 2006 Rain Date: Sept. 30th

The festival is a civic celebration organized and operated by the Friends of Sholan Farm. It is funded through a membership drive, ticket sales to many activities, sponsorships, and souvenir sales. This is an event for the whole family to enjoy. Many of the activities will include crafters, pony rides, music, and food. Join us for a wonderful community event.

The picking season runs from September through October: Days/Hours Wednesday through Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
