Adult Programs

Recreation programs aren't just for kids! We offer a variety of programs for adults and seniors throughout the year.

Tennis (Summer Through Fall)

Keys for the Doyle Field Tennis Courts at 206 Priest Street are available to both residents: $30 and Non-residents: $50. Keys can be purchased and picked up at our office beginning on April 1, 2022.

Proof of residency is required for the reduced rate. Identification will be required to obtain a key. New keys are issued annually. If you return your key from the previous year and purchase a new key, you get $5 off the cost of the new key. If you don't want to purchase a key for the whole season, you may leave a $30 refundable deposit for 24 hours.

Key holders are required to review and abide by the tennis etiquette and court usage rules (provided at registration). For additional information or questions, please call the Recreation Department at 978-534-7529.

Adult Softball League

We don't run the softball leagues, but we manage the softball fields that are used by the leagues. Please see our Guidelines That Pertain to Adult Softball League (PDF) for using our facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For more information on the Lassie or Adult Mixed Softball Leagues, please see our Sports Organization Contacts page.

2022 Spring / Summer / Fall Hiking Schedule

Explore various trails in Leominster and out of town sites once a month. Hikes are led by members of the Leominster Recreation Department and the Leominster Trail Stewards and are no more than 3 miles.

Wear hiking boots: bring water to drink, a light snack, bug repellent, and wear long-sleeved shirt and pants. Dress in layers. Hiking sticks are helpful to bring if you have them.

  • Cost: Free (unless noted)
  • Cancellations: Hikes are cancelled if it rains or if we do not have five people signed up.
  • Pre-Registration Required: Call the Recreation Department at 978-534-7529 or email Judith Sumner to sign up for each hike.

Hikers gather informally and hike at your own risk.

Friday, July 15: Prospect Park (Approximately 1 Mile)

At 6 pm meet at Prospect Park to take a leisurely one-mile guided hike. What a great way to unwind at the end of the work week and enjoy this park tucked away in North Leominster. Come see all the work the Leominster Trails Stewards, community volunteers and local boy scouts have done at Prospect Park and hear about future plans for this site.

Sunday, August 21 Quabbin Park & Reservoir (Full-day excursion)

At 8 am meet at Barrett Park to carpool to Belchertown. Join the members of the Leominster Trail Stewards as they travel to Quabbin Park in the town of Belchertown. Our visit will include a climb up the observation tower, views of the dams, spillways, the cemetery, and several scenic vistas and we will enjoy a pleasant lunch in the meadows on the shores of the reservoir. Bring your own lunch and beverage for a picnic lunch. You must sign up in advance, so we can plan transportation.
