Please be advised that the pediatric clinic for second shots AND booster shots for adults 18 and older is full. The Health Department will be scheduling another clinic, please check back for days and times.
On November 29th, 2021, the City of Leominster, Massachusetts, licensee of WLPZ-LP, 95.1 FM, Leominster, Massachusetts, filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission for renewal of its license. Members of the public wishing to view this application or obtain information about how to file comments and petitions can visit www.fcc.gov/stationsearch, and search in the list of "WLPZ-LP" filed applications.
City Hall will be closed Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving, and will reopen on Monday November 29 at 8:30am.
Please note that there will be a one day delay of trash and recycling due to the holiday.
Thursday trash and recycling will be picked up on Friday and Friday trash and recycling will be picked up on Saturday.

The City of Leominster is hosting two pediatric vaccine clinics. This is for Pfizer vaccine only. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was authorized by the CDC for use in children ages 5-11 on November 2.

The City of Leominster will be hosting a COVID testing tent on Mondays and Wednesdays starting on November 8 and continuing until the end of 2021. The testing will take place at the Doyle Field parking lot on Priest Street next to the tennis courts from 12:00-4:00pm. Walk-ins welcome.

Give us your opinion on the Monoosnoc Brook project!
The City of Leominster chose a design for the Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project and is seeking input from residents and businesses during Phase 2 of the project, which is funded by a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant. Interested parties can share their opinions on what amenities should be incorporated into the final design via a community survey and at an upcoming virtual public meeting at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021 (for audio call781-613-0525 ID: 118305228#).

The Veteran Property Tax Work Off Abatement Program is open to qualified veterans and spouses of qualified veterans who own property in and pay real estate taxes to the City of Leominster. The purpose of this program is to allow veteran taxpayers an opportunity to volunteer in exchange for a reduction in their property tax bill. The program participant’s name must appear on the property deed. Participants must complete 111.11 hours of service in the program year, which runs from February 1 to October 31. A $1,500 property tax credit minus the required withholdings will be applied to the participant’s real estate tax bill in the following fiscal year, not current year’s property tax bill. Applications are now available.

Monoosnoc Brook Project Meeting
The Massachusetts Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs has declared a Level 1 – Mild Drought status in the Central Region.
In response, The City of Leominster Water Department will implement a Mandatory odd/even water restriction with NO outdoor watering to occur on Mondays. Residents are urged to use efficient watering methods during these periods by:

1. Effective Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the Stay at Home Advisory for the hours of 10pm – 5am is rescinded.
2. Effective Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the Mandatory Early Closure of Businesses Order requiring certain businesses to close by 9:30pm will be rescinded. On Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the following businesses and activities listed below may operate past 9:30pm:
- Arcades & Other Indoor & Outdoor Recreation (Phase 3, Step 1 businesses only)
- Indoor and Outdoor Events
- Movie Theaters and Outdoor Performance Venues
- Drive-In Movie Theaters
- Youth and Adult Amateur Sports Activities
- Golf Facilities
- Recreational Boating and Boating Businesses (e.g. charter boats)
- Outdoor Recreational Experiences
- Casinos and Horse Tracks/Simulcast Facilities
- Driving and Flight Schools

The following information will help you understand your quarterly real estate tax bill.
a) The amount due on the 3rd and 4th quarter bills is calculated as follows: Take the valuation and divide by 1000; then multiply by the tax rate $18.13 (This figure is the total tax for the fiscal year).
b) Take the total tax and add in the betterment/committed interest charges, water/sewer lien charges. Subtract the two preliminary tax amounts charged.
c) You should then divide the balance by two. This figure represents the amount due on the 3rd and 4th quarter bill.
Due dates are as follows:
1st Quarter: August 1
2nd Quarter: November 1
3rd Quarter: February 1
4th Quarter: May 1

Mayor Dean Mazzarella has called a special School Committee meeting for Monday, September 28 at 5:00pm to discuss equity in education and the safety of our children. Teachers are doing a great job and we appreciate everything they are doing. This meeting is a chance to tell your story. How is remote learning affecting your kids and your family? What has it been like to balance all of this between work and helping with the learning process? You are a key stakeholder in this process and your opinion counts. The grants are for $2500.00 per business and are specifically to assist with rent or utility payments during this time. Applications will be available until the funds are exhausted. Mosquitos in the Northeast quadrant of Leominster have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The Mosquito Control Board works hard to monitor these situations throughout the summer and fall. They will be spraying September 3 in the following locations. IF YOU DO NOT want your property sprayed, the link is attached to exempt your property. We offer small grants as a way to invest in neighborhoods and improve the quality of life in Leominster.
Each ward in the city will be given one grant of up to $2,000.00. Grant recipients must secure a dollar-for-dollar match equal to or exceeding the grant amount requested. The match can be in the form of cash, volunteer labor, or donated goods or services.
Grants are intended to spur small, grassroots community projects. Grants may be used for a wide variety of projects. Proposals are reviewed and funding decisions are made by a group of individuals including the Mayor’s office and the Ward Councilor.

Holiday Trash and Recycling
Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Monday this year. If your regularly scheduled pick up is on Monday, your trash and recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, both weeks. Tuesday’s collection will occur on Wednesday and each subsequent day will also be one day later, finishing up on Saturday.
Residents may place one (1) extra bag of trash at the curbside after the Christmas holiday. If you have more than what fits into your tote to dispose of please come to the Health Department and purchase over flow bags.
Please remember that FOIL wrapping paper is NOT recyclable! Please put all waste FOIL wrapping paper in your green tote, not in your blue tote.
